Canada And U.S.A. Sign Secret Deal To Share Troops In 'Civil Emergencies'!
American troops can now be deployed in my country! Well Mr. Harper, here is the main question that I have concerning this signed agreement -why did the Harper government keep silent on the deal and exactly WHAT triggers the deployment of the United States Marines onto Canadian soil?
Forgive me for not completely trusting Harper and Stockwell Day! The militarization of Canada seems well underway. We have abandoned our legacy of Peacekeeping, are at war in Afghanistan, have an intemperate top General who insists on playing politics and demanding that we move further along this road to war.
This better be raised in the House of Commons during the very next Question Period!!

Happy Valentine's Day, eh ? ? ? ?

"Canada And U.S.A. Sign Secret Deal To Share Troops In 'Civil Emergencies'!"
What a misleading headline this is wow!
How can it be a "secret deal" if it happens to be in the National Post?
What a scandal for Canada and the U.S.A working together in case of a civil emergencies scandalous. Right?
But you also forgot to mention this little bit of information I'm sure. Yea right! Here it is from the same link the National Post.
"Scanlon said there was no intent to keep the agreement secret on the Canadian side of the border. He noted it will be reported on in the Canadian Forces newspaper next week and that publication will be put on the Internet.
Scanlon said the actual agreement hasn't been released to the public as that requires approval from both nations. That decision has not yet been taken, he added."

Dog, you are overreacting. I mean, your acting like some grade nine kid who is politically active just to impress a girl.
Take Katrina for instance, if this deal was in place before hand, we could have deployed help alot sooner. And don't tell me we didn't need help during the ice storms of 98.
We are each other's closest allies, agreements like this benefit both of us.
You sir are a moron.

And you sir are a traitor - who by your own admission on this blog in past, has advocated that Canada give up being a nation and join with the United States!

[the agreement] . .[it} will be reported on in the Canadian Forces newspaper next week . . .
----------------
Of course it'll be in the CF newspaper now that's it's out everywhere else!
I keep coming back to the same phrases of "back stairs agreements and behind the scenes manipulations" and I'm accused of being a broken record.
This episode is yet another in these connivances. Remember the "flag and half-mast" fiasco from 2 years ago? That too, was a quiet decision taken unilaterally and with no consultation.
Talk about being like an emperor or tyrant!

'Right is where its at' ... your apologies for Harper Inc are so lame as to be laughable! Let's see ... the deal was signed on Feb 14 - the Fed's said NOTHING about it - 8 days later the National Post carries the story and you try to pretend that the Conservatives are using open and honest communications in their administration! The only redeeming thing I can say about you, is that you at least cheer for the correct NHL team - otherwise, your views leave a great deal to be desired.

Here's the answer to that question.
CanWest Global has a military fixation. It pervades their newscasts and their newspapers.
If you can't see that what can you see clearly?

Leftdog I'm not pretending about nothing.I'm just giving you my opinion here. I realize that no matter what kind of deals that this government will do with the U.S. it will never satisfy your outdated left-wing agenda. Its no wonder why the NDP has never ever formed a national government in this country. It because of thinking like yours.
Philltaj2 I agree with you on this one.But I would not go as far as calling leftdog a moron. Maybe leftdog doesn't know any better.

And 'Righty' the reason that the Conservatives do not have a majority (and SO RARELY get one) is because of thinking like yours!

"And 'Righty' the reason that the Conservatives do not have a majority (and SO RARELY get one) is because of thinking like yours!"
Leftdog you sound like the Toronto Maple leaves at least they got to dance in 67.
I would rather have a minority government than nothing at all.At least Conservatives do form majorities. The conservatives have been governing as a majority any how with the help of the weak liberals.
So there you have it.

Yes Tories DO get minority governments from time to time, UNTIL Canadians realize what they are all about and then throw them out for another decade or two! I live in a Province where 16 Conservative Members of the Legislature were convicted of FRAUD and BREACH of TRUST. Don't lecture me on 'conservatives'!!!!

Leftdog you are talking about here most probably the P.C.Party not the Conservative party at the federal level. The old P.C.Party is long gone. It only took this new party after it was formed only a few years to form a government. How long did it take the NDP to form a national government? Oh yea I guess never so there you have it.

Sooo ... under your Tory reasoning - if Clifford Olson changed his name to Clifford Smith, he should be let out of jail because he is innocent! Nice try ...

No thats not what I'm saying. You just take a look at the Conservative MPs today. And tell me how many of those Mps were "elected" has P.C.Mps when the P.C.Party lost to the Liberals in the 90's.If memory serves me right they were completely wipe out.
Posted by Anonymous | 1:48 pm, February 23, 2008
And the 'wipe out' of the PC's PLUS their scandal in Saskatchewan required Tories to get a new name under the witness protection program. Hence .... Conservative = Progressive Conservative. Your denial of reality changes nothing.

Leftdog is this the reason why the NDP lost power in Saskatchewan and a right wing party took control of the government?
Posted by Anonymous | 1:53 pm, February 23, 2008
Leftdog I think your losing it stop drinking the kool-aide.
Posted by Anonymous | 1:55 pm, February 23, 2008
No ... the people of Saskatchewan decided after 16 years they wanted a change - fair ball (here's hoping Albertans will do the same) - And yes they elected the Saskatchewan Party (who are actually all Conservatives or Progressive Conservatives or whatever the right wing wants to call itself these days).
Posted by leftdog | 1:56 pm, February 23, 2008
Leftdog I'm from Montreal.Before Albertans
decide to go left you will see pigs fly.Leftdog I would argue with you a little more, but it is 3 O'clock here in the east.I think I'm going to watch the hockey game that is about to start its the Sens and the Penguins on cbc. Good day!

Here .... have a little drink on me. It is Stephen Harper's FAVORITE DRINK!
Posted by leftdog | 2:07 pm, February 23, 2008
um.. I don't see what’s wrong with this. It’s not even Secret because it was reported in a National newspaper.
Whats wrong with having help in Civil Emergencies?
Posted by huffb1 | 5:36 pm, February 23, 2008
If it was 'above board' it would not have had a news media blackout for 8 days! Harper didn't want us to know about it! Why? ...... well, there is a move afoot by Conservatives and right wingers to create a North American Union. Harper keeps pushing slowly and steadily and QUIETLY towards that goal. Some of us are not going to go along quite so quietly!
Posted by leftdog | 5:46 pm, February 23, 2008
I think you have been reading too many books on conspiracy theories their Leftdog.
Posted by huffb1 | 5:50 pm, February 23, 2008
I don't think you read enough books huffb1!
Posted by leftdog | 5:53 pm, February 23, 2008
You don't know how many books I read Leftdog. I read a lot on Conservative politics.
Posted by huffb1 | 6:06 pm, February 23, 2008
That's your biggest problem ...
Posted by leftdog | 6:07 pm, February 23, 2008
I've always thought "good fences make good neighbours".
They know they can count on us when another natural disaster strikes, but I am shocked that Harper would give them the keys to the house and let them let themselves in when they need a cup of sugar!
Given the dependence of the American Empire (yes, that what they are calling themselves 'round D.C.) on pretty much everything my province owns (SK), this is an abomination and pulling this with a weak minority government demands the end of the Harper government. I for one will work to bring more patriotic parties to power.
Anschluss anyone?
Jimmy.
