Republicans Expect Defections as House Debates Iraq Resolution

All 435 Members of the House of Representatives are entitled to 5 minutes each if they wish to get into a special three day debate concerning the War in Iraq.

The debate will start today in the House and Democrats are planning to propose a carefully worded rebuke of President Bush's buildup. Senior House Republicans expect a large number of defections from their side.

The debate is likely to begin this morning and run until midnight tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday. A vote is expected Friday.

Naturally in response to this the administration is ratcheting up the "Iran-is-the-bogeyman" campaign.

I'm no fan of Iran's government but seriously, if people would think it through they'd realize that if we were not IN Iraq, Iran would pose NO threat to us. Good grief.

Of course it is. Bush has to blame someone for his failures. As for the 'evidence', it isn't. Iran sells military hardware just like the US does. That stuff could have come from anywhere. If an insurgent is caught with an M-16, does that prove the US is providing them arms?

What blows my mind is that the majority of people don't seem to realize that all those aircraft carriers sittin' in the Persian Gulf are nothing more than an infantile man shouting "Neener, Neener, NEEEENER!" at Iran's government. How much longer before they respond to his provocations???
