DON'T FORGET - Harper Wanted Canadian Troops in Iraq

"It is inherently dangerous to allow a country such as Iraq to retain weapons of mass destruction, particularly in light of its past aggressive behaviour. If the world community fails to disarm Iraq, we fear that other rogue states will be encouraged to believe that they too can have these most deadly of weapons to systematically defy international resolutions and that the world will do nothing to stop them."
- Stephen Harper supporting the American invasion of Iraq, House of Commons, March 20, 2003. No weapons of mass destruction have been ever been found in Iraq.

As Canadians, let's NOT FORGET that Stephen Harper wanted Canada to join Bush in his military invasion of Iraq.

Harper and his Conservatives would have had us mired up to our necks in this disaster. Why is it that no one in the MSM is holding Stephen Harper to account for his statements on Iraq? Why is it that Kate and her 'smalldeadanimals' extremists are not being held to account for their support of Harper's position on Iraq?

Right wingers get off far too easy in the main stream media. Harper was wrong!

Canadians should be thankful that we are NOT losing lives in Iraq. REMEMBER THIS, our Prime Minister, Stephen Harper WANTED CANADA TO SEND TROOPS INTO IRAQ! His judgement was flawed on this issue. I suggest to you that Stephen Harper's judgement continues to be flawed on any number of other important issues.

The sooner he is thrown out of office, the safer Canadians will be.

-You are confusing 'Afghanistan' with 'Iraq' .

-"why should they (Kate and the people on her blog) be “held to account” for their opinion?" - Because when you give false information and ferment hatred, you should be responsible for what you say.

-"Why do you hate so much?"
For someone who is defending 'smalldeadanimals' to accuse ANYONE else of 'hatred' is definitely the pot calling the kettle black.

Don’t forget that when Liberal Prime Minister, Jean Chretien decided not to go to Iraq, there was many in the Liberal party, including previous Liberal Prime Minister, Paul Martin, who disagreed with him. Yet you supported Paul Martin in the last Federal election, so I am afraid that you are contradicting yourself my friend.

The fact is that there was significant support for the Iraq invasion among both the Liberal and Conservative party, so don’t try to pretend that it was only the Conservative party that supported it.

Well 'ton' .. I have NEVER voted Liberal in my life for starters.

Don't give me your crap about "don’t try to pretend that it was only the Conservative party that supported it."

You bloody tories are all about war mongering! Harper wanted Canada in Iraq, you've already extended us in the mess of Afghanistan. You wing nut conservatives are terrible!

You will be thrown out of office in a very few months. And rightly so. You're all boderline insane anyway!

I am not sure Harper would have sent troops to Iraq in any numbers. Perhaps a small contingent, say 200 or 300 commandos, but I doubt he would have sent anything major, because there is nothing major to send. His quotation that you have brought forward from a couple of years ago implies a supportive attitude, but it doesn't commit one to supportive action. A typical political dodge.

I agree with you about Kate McMillan and her SmallDeadAnimals bunch. They are a complete disgrace. In fact, I am surprised as Hell that embarassed Conservative Party types haven't taken some kind of action to shut her down, she's such an embarassment (eg linking to one of the SDA poster's home page, only to find a photograph of that particular nut with Foreign Min MacKay at some gathering). I do hope the CBC gets Kate on board again as a panelist in the next election, where she can rant on and remind people how great the Conservatives really are. As in really!
