Tory Appointment To Judicial Panel Questioned
The Harper Conservative government has added an extra member to each of the provincial committees recently, with the goal of adding representation from police forces.
The police nominee on the Saskatchewan committee is Christine Tell, a sergeant with the Regina City Police Service who also is a nominated Saskatchewan Party candidate in the next provincial election.
There is no functioning provincial 'Conservative party' in Saskatchewan after the criminal conviction of 16 Conservative Members of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the early 1990's. The 'Saskatchewan Party' is the successor to the Conservatives. There is a very close relationship between the Federal Conservatives and the Saskatchewan Party. Regina Conservative MP Tom Lukiwski is the former CEO of the Saskatchewan Party. Elwin Hermanson, former leader of the Saskatchewan Party sat as a Reform Party Member of Parliament with Stephen Harper, Jason Kenney, Stockwell Day and Rob Anders.

Maybe they couldn't find an NDP supporter on the police forces. :)
