Defence Minister Says Canada Needs 15 More Years In Afghanistan
Ottawa announced last week that it was getting 20 Leopard II tanks on loan from Germany and purchasing another 100 tanks from the Netherlands. The total price tag is $650 million.

In O'Connor's defence, what he actually said was that we need a bunch of new tanks because military planners forsee us needing these tanks for missions LIKE Afghanistan for the next 10-15 years.
Whatever he thinks, he most certainly did NOT say we need 15 more years in Afghanistan. He may believe that, but he didn't say it. In fact, some have argued he went out of his way NOT to say it.
