U.S. Erects 'Baghdad Wall' to Keep Sects Apart
U.S. soldiers with the 82nd Airborne Division in Baghdad are “building a three-mile protective wall on the dividing line between a Sunni enclave and the surrounding Shiite neighborhood,” according to a U.S. military press release issued Wednesday.
Troops with the 407th Brigade Support Battalion began constructing the wall on April 10 and will continue work “almost nightly until the wall is complete,” the release read.

When hatred is so strong it penetrates the deepest sole. Then there is no choice but to build walls. Each wall is protection from the outside world as it is protection of the outside world. Can high enough walls be built. Like firewalls slowing the hatred violence spreading and reinfecting neighbourhood after neighbourhood. When the hell fire of hatred is under control, doors can be opened one by one and the sole can enjoy the beautiful sound of birds celebrating peace and prosperity in the land.

Wow. That's just so symbolic. The US, splitting up Iraqis, who are no longer Iraqis, but now Sunnis and Shias...
Although to be fair, I don't quite think the links uniting Shia and Sunni in Saddam-era Iraq were so positive either, but they probably weren't so violent, even implicitly.

Great a wall. Aside from it being terrible optics, I hope they are aware that it won't stop the use of mortars that both sides routinely deploy.
