RE: What's Up With Afghanistan?
On Monday, August 6, 2007, at a meeting in Washington D.C., the President of Afghanistan - Hamid Karzai, was being questioned about the Taliban by reporters. In response, President Karzai said, and this is a direct quote:
"They're not posing any threat to the government of Afghanistan,"
Minister MacKay, in view of the fact that the President of Afghanistan DOES NOT consider the Taliban insurgents to be 'any threat to the government of Afghanistan', exactly why is it that we have Canadian armed forces on a mission that we were told was critical to the survival of the government of Afghanistan?
Mr. Minister, there is a disconnect here between what Canadian government and military officials are telling Canadians and what the President of Afghanistan is telling us.
Would you, sir, please clarify this inconsistency?
Yours sincerely

I confess I know nothing about Canadian Politics, but it appears you need to get your politicians to stop drinking the Bush Koolaid as much as we do here in the States.

The Government of Canada and our Prime Minister ACTUALLY BELIEVE that Bush is doing a good job!!!
Now you know the kind of insane bloody nonsense we are trying to correct up here in Canada!

Someone needs to get Peter Mackay an Afganistan War for Dummies book. In a recent Scrubs episode, J.D. reads Iraq War for Dummies so he can get in on the debate in the hospital. The best line: "What's the deal? I just got to the 'Mission Accomplished' part and there are still 500 pages left." Genius.
