Since 1992, 267 people have died while in the custody of or while being pursued by the police in British Columbia!

I shit you not! This is fact! And the RCMP and other forces who investigate themselves should be required to explain!!

"Since 1992, 267 people have died while in the custody of or while being pursued by the police in British Columbia, an average of almost 18 each year. From Victoria to Fort St. John, Yahk to Alert Bay, more than 70 cities and towns in the province have experienced a police-involved civilian death in the last 15 years."
-Vancouver Sun

A great big H/T to Dawg's Blog who seems to have caught the attention of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for simply telling it like it is ....

Do you need a visual of how many 267 is? Here is how many persons 267 is!

And who says Canada doesn't have the death penalty?

As the Vancouver Taser "incident" has shown us we can't trust the RCMP account of events. What we need is independent oversight.

This is what we can learn from the Vancouver RCMP Taser "incident" and the following spread of misinformation and coverup to put the position of the RCMP in more favourable light.

RCMP spokespeople have continuously spread lies about the Vancouver Taser incident; here the two most obvious ones:

1. Sergeant Pierre Lemaitre (and possily other RCMP officers) have said repeatedly that there were only three RCMP officers involved in the incident, but the video shows four men in RCMP uniforms

2. Sergeant Pierre Lemaitre (and possibly other RCMP officers) have said that officers "did not use pepper spray because of the large number of people at the airport at the time". The video shows that this part of the airport is virtually empty.

Who's going to fire him?

Damn. That's a lot. I had no idea.

Thanks for the nod, Leftdog. I think we have to start demanding that the RCMP be disbanded, and a new force be built from the ground up. The rot is irremediable. Quite simply, the RCMP is "horribly broken," and cannot be repaired.
