Saskatchewan Party Policy On Elected Senators Betrays Their Old Reform Party Roots
At this weeks annual convention of the Party, delegates could not resist advancing a long standing policy of Preston Manning's old Reformers .... the election of Senators!
It should not come as a surprise to Saskatchewan watchers. The Sask Party is all about remaking Saskatchewan in Alberta's image. So ... here we go. Premier Brad Wall has already hinted that Saskatchewan voters may be asked to voice their opinion on adopting 'daylight savings time' by ballot at the next provincial election. If they add another ballot for election of one or more Saskatchewan Senators, it is going to be an interesting election.
Saskatchewan's New Democrats hold to the policy of their party nationally, .... Abolish The Senate! There may be far more support for that position than the Saskatchewan Party government is aware of.

How is this news "betraying their reform party roots" as the title of your post suggests?

Dylan, the Saskatchewan Party goes to great length to deny that they have anything to do with the old Reform Party. ('Deny, Deny, Deny' is part of their heritage).
One of the definitions of the word 'Betrays' is: "To make known unintentionally: Her hollow laugh betrayed her contempt for the idea"
Supporting elected Senators, a plank of the Reformers 'unintentionally makes known' their Reform Party roots.
