Former Sask Conservative Cabinet Minister - Convicted For Murder - Turns Over Book Profits
"Former Saskatchewan politician and convicted murderer Colin Thatcher is turning over the profits from his book to the Saskatchewan government. Thatcher was ordered to do so in a recent court decision."
CBC Saskatchewan
I wonder what's worse in the situation: that Thatcher wrote the book or that people bought it.

The fact that Thatcher handed over an even $5000, with a copy of a letter to his publisher indicating that "all future royalty payments" should be forwarded to Saskatchewan's minister of finance, indicates that the book has not "earned out". In other words, the book hasn't yet sold enough copies to cover his advance.
Need I add that ECW, the book's publisher, is hardly a publishing powerhouse?
Didn't think so.
