With no election on the horizon, people may be more willing to indicate support for a party that matches their beliefs. The trouble is that during an election, other factors come into play. So, as a guide to what might happen if an election were held today (which isn't happening, of course) these polls are probably misleading.

(Support for the green party is a good example: it rises in non-election years, and falls greatly during the election.)
