The Taliban 'Wins' If Canadians Don't Support Our Troops : Peter MacKay

Another idiotic speech from another idiotic Conservative Cabinet Minister. Where do these jokers come up with this schlock? Here are some snippets of a speech delivered by Canada's Defence Minister, Peter MacKay:

"Waning support for the mission in Afghanistan is a weapon in the hands of the Taliban."

"The Taliban are very intelligent - they read newspapers, they go on the Internet."

"When they see Canadian resolve weaken, that's when they up their effort,"

"The younger generation of Canadians aren't used to seeing flag-draped coffins, and perhaps don't understand sacrifice the way older Canadians do."

NOTE: Recent polls have found that:
- 49% of Canadians consider the military operation in Afghanistan to be futile
- 22% of Canadians considered the NATO mission a success
- 29% weren't sure

You MUST Support The Troops!!

The younger generation of Canadians aren't used to seeing flag-draped coffins, he said, and perhaps don't understand sacrifice the way older Canadians do.

Ya like 80 year-olds vs the rest of us Peter. ;-)

This is a rehash of the American phrase "If we don't {insert phrase here} then the terrorists win."

worse part is that the Americans bought it.

The "if we don't . .", was used by Americans when it was necessary to chip away at personal rights and liberties, e.g. the Patriot Act.

Patriot Act my foot.

Having been one in the past, I do support the troops. I don't always support what the government wants them to do, however. A lot of people can't tell the difference between the two, and that's what McKay and Harper are counting on.

And nothing says support like a pay cut...
