Considering that the ruling Harper Conservatives hold only a slim
minority government, the
majority of us who didn't vote Tory can be proud of 3 Opposition MP's who are touring the the Lebanese war zone.
"This time we were not a voice of moderation, we were echoing what United States foreign policy was dictating," said NDP MP Peggy Nash.

"LEBANON—The Canadian government must begin direct talks with militant groups such as Hezbollah to effectively bring a peaceful end to conflicts like the one that has ravaged Lebanon this summer, Toronto Liberal MP Borys Wrzesnewskyj says.
Standing at the spot where an Israeli air strike killed several members of a Montreal family last month, Wrzesnewskyj said Israel's summer offensive against Lebanon was nothing less than "state terrorism."
"Over 1,200 dead and counting. Over 40,000 apartments and houses flattened. A country's infrastructure dismembered. You look around here," said Wrzesnewskyj (Etobicoke Centre). "I believe what's happened is absolutely criminal."
It was one of the strongest statements a Liberal MP has made against Israel since July 12, when it launched air, land and sea attacks after guerrillas from the militant Shiite group Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers and killed eight others in a cross-border raid.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper initially called the ensuing Israeli onslaught a "measured response" to the raid, but as the civilian death toll mounted, he later toned down his comments saying such judgments had become more difficult as the war escalated."
-end story-
Although there are governments and organizations that we do not like; that we hate ... the reality is this , some of us still believe that in the 21st Century, peaceful means to resolve problems is not as PRIMITIVE as using war to resolve problems.
Whether we 'like' Hezbollah or not, they are a player in the situation, Israel tried to wipe them out and failed, so maybe we need to look at something other than using nuclear bombs to solve the problem.
Recognizing the existence of on entity does not mean we agree with their objectives. Don't forget, this country recognized and had diplomatic relations with Mugabe, Khadafi, USSR, Pinochet, etc...

BENT JBAIL, Lebanon - Dropping Hezbollah from a list of banned terrorist organizations in Canada would aid the cause of peace, according to two MPs now on a fact-finding mission to Lebanon.
When asked if he was in favour of Hezbollah being taken off the terror list, Etobicoke Liberal MP Borys Wrzesnewskyj said: "Yes, I would be." He likened the situation in the Middle East to Northern Ireland, where "if there wasn't the possibility for London to negotiate with the IRA, you'd still have bombings."

This trip was billed as a 'fact finding' mission.
The MPs visited Syria, Lebanon and Egypt. But NOT Isreal.
The outcome was predictable before the MPs hopped on the plane for this 'mission'.
