Tory MP Says They Are Ready For Election
Since both the New Democrats and Liberals have indicated that they will likely vote against the Softwood Lumber deal, will Harper continue his unholy alliance with the separatists? With a leap in their polling numbers, will the Bloc let the Tories fall?
The Hill Times investigates the Tory claim in an article dated August 28th, 2006.

Quebec was the only place the Cons were down, up in Ont & Maritimes. That was mostly because of the ME.
I think the Cons keep the election rumors flying to panic the Libs, and PMSH wants to go down in history as the PM with the longest running minority in history.

It is interesting that right on the heels of Harper making the softwood lumber deal a matter of confidence in the House, a Tory MP starts bragging that they are ready for an election. It feels like posturing to me and the two events are not exclusive of each other. Likely just part of the Tory strategy to pass the deal.
