Iraqi Law Will Give 30 Year Contracts To Big Oil Companies - (the spOILs of war)

So now we have the truth about George Bush's war in Iraq:

"Iraq's massive oil reserves, the third-largest in the world, are about to be thrown open for large-scale exploitation by Western oil companies under a controversial law which is expected to come before the Iraqi parliament within days.

The US government has been involved in drawing up the law, a draft of which has been seen by The Independent on Sunday. It would give big oil companies such as BP, Shell and Exxon 30-year contracts to extract Iraqi crude and allow the first large-scale operation of foreign oil interests in the country since the industry was nationalised in 1972."

Good fetch!

You can bet the Iraqis are not going to like that one bit. Let's see how much oil the multi-national gangsters actually get from those long unprotected pipe lines.

That's definitely another in a long line of poor excuses to hand money to big oil if the contracts end up getting carried out. But then, what are the odds that Iraq will develop a stable enough governmental structure for the contracts to be worth anything past Bush's tenure in the White House?

To be fair, its a false offer. The Americans have secured two areas, Kurd territory in the north and the green zone of Baghdad square in the middle. The oil derilects are in the south, which is insecure and has constant attacks on both Iraqi military/police and allied forces.
