Bush's Immigration Policy Puts Kids In Jail
Over 400 immigrant detainees, about half of whom are children, infants and toddlers reside in the T. Don Hutto Correctional Center in Taylor, Texas.
They have not been charged with any crime. Many of them are in the process of applying for political asylum, refugees from violence-plagued and impoverished countries like Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Somalia and Palestine. (Since there are different procedures for Mexican immigrants, the facility houses no Mexicans.)

The inmates are immigrants or children of immigrants who are in deportation proceedings.
I think that given they are in a state of limbo, it's probably prudent to keep them away from the general public. The problem I have is to get them processed in due course. We need to remind ourselves these are illegal migrants. Of course they will say they are political refugees. Anyone not from a first world nation will argue that.

Dawg, I do volunteer work at the prison here on Oregon, so I keep up on prison issues. CCA has a terrible reputation for mistreating inmates.

Talk of putting in a "detention facility" here in my town. Not sure who the provider/management would be, have to get back to you on that.
