Author Kurt Vonnegut Dies at 84
One of the most brilliant authors of the 20th Century, Kurt Vonnegut died today at age 84.The author of titles such as Slaughter House Five, Cat's Cradle, Breakfast of Champions and many other brilliant works, Vonnegut achieved near cult status with his fans.

I think it would be fair to say that Vonnegut's book, 'Sirens of Titan' was life changing for me. Talk about an existential awakening. If you have not read this one .... I hope it is one that you do read. You will finish it with a different perspective on the meaning of life.

I loved 'Slaugherhouse 5'. Not only is it a brilliant book, but Billy Pilgrim is based on Kurt's own experiences as a POW in Dresden during WWII.
That and the fact that he was a devout skeptic and viciously satirical critic of government and the right will make me miss him all the more.

Mike - I forgot that he had lived thru the firebombing of Dresden in WW2! What an interesting guy he was.
I think I am going to reread a number of his books - read Sirens of Titan if you haven't already!
