
On March 29th, Federal Cabinet Minister, Stockwell Day announced that there would be an independent investigation into RCMP pension allegations. With much fanfare,
a Federal Government news release stated, "Ottawa, March 29, 2007 — The Honourable Stockwell Day, Minister of Public Safety, today announced that Canada’s New Government will launch immediately a full, independent investigation into allegations made before the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, related to the administration of the RCMP pension plan."
