Dion Doesn't Understand Harper's Hatred Of 'Canada'

A story carried by Canadian Press, written by Nelson Wyatt, has the title, 'Harper doesn't understand Canadian economy, Dion tells Quebec fundraiser.'

The story states: "MONTREAL (CP) - Liberal Leader Stephane Dion says Prime Minister Stephen Harper doesn't understand the Canadian economy and has opened the door to foreign takeovers of Canadian companies. "Canada needs a prime minister and a government who understands the world economy, who sees just how difficult and merciless it is," Dion told a Liberal fundraiser Monday evening. "Mr. Harper has made our taxation less competitive. He has given the green light for foreign acquisitions in Canada and the red light to Canadian acquisitions abroad."

Dion is grossly underestimating Stephen Harper's motivation and actions.

Let's face it. Stephen Harper hates Canada the way it is right now. Here is what our Prime Minister is on record as saying ...

"Canada is a Northern European welfare state in the worst sense of the term, and very proud of it. Canadians make no connection between the fact that they are a Northern European welfare state and the fact that we have very low economic growth, a standard of living substantially lower than yours, a massive brain drain of young professionals to your country, and double the unemployment rate of the United States."
- Stephen Harper, then vice-president of the National Citizens Coalition, in a June 1997 Montreal meeting of the Council for National Policy, a right-wing American think tank.

"Canada appears content to become a second-tier socialistic country, boasting ever more loudly about its economy and social services to mask its second-rate status," ...
- Stephen Harper in his article "It is time to seek a new relationship with Canada," December 12th, 2000.

Harper's hard right wing politics came throught loud and clear when he headed up the National Citizens Coalition and later when he sat as a Reform Party Member of Parliament. He sees Canada as a failed leftwing experiment, and he LOVES Bush's Republican America. He is attempting to remake Canada into some sort of right wing North American partner with the U.S.

Dion is misinterpreting Harper's actions on the econmy. Harper's goal is to force as much integration with the United States as Canadians can tolerate.

Dog, I really think North American Union is the future- nationalism is obsolete, the world is dividing into civilizational blocks. And, lets face it, we watch the same tv, listen to the same music, drive the same cars, etc. as Americans. Nothing really distinguishes us, and pretending so is becoming more and more futile.

"Dion is misinterpreting Harper's actions on the economy."

One wonders if you've missed out on one word before misinterpreting; purposely.

Libs are not that different from Cons, they just sound a bit more friendly; but when it comes to cover-ups (ex. Air-India), environment (ex. Kyoto), economic scandals (ex. Sponsorship), Libs behave like their right-wing brothers. No wonder many MPs of both parties have crossed the floor; Libs and Cons ideology is pretty much the same.

That's not to say that all Liberal supporters are the same as Conservative supporters. Both parties target mainstream Canadians in their own way. The message is different, but the outcome is the same shit. Don't fall for it.

Phill you are the first right winger I have met who is honest enough to say what you just said.

Let me ask you this Phil, why do you HATE Canada so much??

If you so badly want to be an American, why not just go and become a citizen there???

I don't really believe in Canada, considering our country was created only to feed the pockets of politicians who had invested in the railroads. We try and try to come up with a national image or endearing myths, but all we can come up with is hockey...and that is the LEAST pathetic national myth.

I look at this country, and I see America lite. When I visited Europe last summer no one could tell our group apart from Americans, and frankly, didn't see a difference once we explained we were Canadians.

I'm not gonna lie, im firmly embedded in the professional, monied class, nationalism does not factor into my pursuit of happiness, wealth, and family.

When I think of Europe I don't think of petty, individual countries but an emerging super state that can shape the future. I think of North America in the same light.

ALTHOUGH i will be a Toronto Raptors and Ottawa Senators fan till the day I die, and that affection is most probably shaped by AT LEAST some patriotic feeling I will admit.

I dont think Dion understands Canadians (from the ROC) distaste for the Lieberals who are constantly being lead from someone other than the other provinces. Their corrupt, immoral and their policies are discriminatory such as their official bilingual policy that discriminates against unilingual anglophones in the federal civil service, RCMP, military and else where. www.languagefairness.ca/
Dions actions on the economy, means filling up their entitlement funds once they run out of "beer & popcorn mone."
Time for a new leader, one that only has Canadian citizenship.

Dions actions on the economy, means filling up their entitlement funds

Don't talk about "Lieberals" and "entitlement" when the HarperCrit is lying through his teeth repeatedly, and his ministers are lying about their entitlement spending.

- Harper's Cons have gone from minority to lying corruption in 15 months - that's gotta be a new record of some kind - even for politicians.

Canadians have a distaste for being LIED TO.
