"How did you get your news 27 years ago, on Dec. 8, 1980, the date John Lennon was gunned down in New York City? I've been pondering that question this morning, the culmination of my week-long quest to somehow tie that infamous event into the world of computers, electronics and IT, about which I'm supposed to blog. So here goes. The most salient difference between that Monday evening and today is the manner in which news is disseminated." Posted by Alexander Wolfe, Dec 8, 2007 09:16 AM on Wolfe's Den

I'm not even sure that this is a fair question.
27 years ago, in a small prairie city, there was a local newspaper, and radio (some local) and TV.
I would have heard when I finally heard. That doesn't minimize the loss.
Over 27 years, technological changes mean that we can know much more, (perhaps) out of context, much more quickly.
The details of an incident, however, takes just as long to determine.
