Are You Having A Holiday Today?
Today is Family Day in Saskatchewan and Alberta, and I understand that Ontario also has a holiday today. What about you? Does your province have a mid-winter 'blues' day off for working people where you live?
If it IS a holiday for you, what are you doing with it?
Holiday here - yes. Doing - a bit of blog reading and after that, my dog has promised to take me to the park for a cool but sunny walk.
A neighbour (who works for the federal gov) was telling me earlier today that he received an rather curt office email on Friday last saying that Monday was NOT a holiday and that ALL employees were expected to show up for work.
Why not make it a Canadain holiday and not just provincial?

Exactly my thought, it should be a national holiday. Now if only there were something to celebrate in February...
Oh wait, yesterday was National Flag of Canada Day! ;-) Unfortunately, the last time an attempt was made to make it a national holiday there wasn't enough support in the HoC.

One can get a passport today, but not any spirits for the liquor store.
Yes, there is mail but most stores are closed.
It's the sort of day when you had a Magic 8-ball and could ask it what's open and closed.
Half holiday perhaps
Half assed, yes.
Jes' sayin'.

It is Louis Riel Day in Manitoba, although currently I'm in Ontario celebrating Family Day with a trip to Niagara Falls.
