"Jack Layton and the Ottawa NDP have publicly supported the legalization of marijuana. In fact when asked about marijuana Jack Layton called it a wonderful substance which Canadians should be free to smoke at home or in a cafe. Edmontonians understand how difficult it is to make sure our children make the right choices especially on serious issues like drug use. The Conservative Party supports drug free schools and getting tough with drug dealers who sell illegal drugs to children. Don't let our schools go up in smoke..on October 14th vote Conservative."Rahim Jaffer
Radio Ad (in the final days of the 2008 Federal Election)
NOTE: -The New Democratic Party went on to defeat Rahim Jaffer just a few days later for his Federal constituency in Edmonton, Alberta.
-Jaffer went on to be arrested for drunk driving and possession of cocaine.
5 days before it hit the press! He started a green company so let's see how his business adventure goes.
I wonder if those cons "hard on crime" will enforce their moral code on one of their own.

What more can be added. Could this be the beginnings of what has happened to the Republican party in the USA.

This guy was a fraud, seems everyone has forgotten the radio interview that he claimed he gave in fact it was his buddy, he could not contain himself and he has to be punished to the maximum to set an example to the rest of politicians, that they do not a free pass to break the law.

This is not going to look very good for the Conservatives. They have a hard line on any type of drug and their desire to close down the safe drug injection site now needs to be given a further closer look.
Jaffer has his problems and I hope people will have the sense to understand this and lay off him during his troubles.
Finally, Jaffer may start to learn to be more self-honest in his daily life and the sooner he learns this, the better.
I hope his recovery comes quickly and is permanent.
