Brad Wall's Fiscal Mismanagement Of Saskatchewan Is Getting Ridiculous
"Yep, the great free-enterprisers who've railed on for decades about Tommy Douglas driving out the oil companies are now giving away every penny of our potash royalties this year to the potash companies. How can something like this happen, you ask? [...] Whatever it is, it's incompetence well beyond anything voters should ever have to tolerate."
Regina Leader Post
The Brad Wall government presented a provincial budget for 2009/10 that predicted royalty revenues from the potash industry in the amount of $1.9 Billion.
Whoops!! Turns out they were wrong by the entire $1.9 Billion ... in fact they were wrong by a whopping $2.1 Billion (if you include the $200 Million in advance royalties they received and must now pay back to the potash producers).
Saskatchewan's Provincial Auditor is running out of red ink making his frantic appeals to the Wall administration to rein in their incompetent fiscal ways.
It's a good thing that the former government left a couple of Billion in the provincial treasury to save Saskatchewan's fiscal ass. One thing that Saskatchewan voters will not tolerate is a return to the financial insanity that we saw during our disastrous Conservative years here - 1982 to 1991 ... the same Conservative government that Brad Wall served in as a Ministerial Assistant.
