Premier Brad Wall "We're just getting started" YIKES!!

1) The Saskatchewan Party are, without doubt, Stephen Harper's biggest supporters. When it comes to the topic of Harper, Brad Wall simply gushes. The funny thing is that Saskatchewan has NOT benefited one iota from the Harper/Wall 'love in' . If anything, the Province of Saskatchewan is poorer for the relationship.

2) Brad Wall is playing word games with the people of Saskatchewan. He claims that he is 'balancing' the provincial budget and lowering debt. Not so, according to the Provincial Auditor who had this to say on the topic:
"Because the government uses inappropriate accounting policies, the GRF (General Revenue Fund) financial statements (for 2008-09) report net debt and annual surplus inaccurately. If the government had accounted for all transactions properly, the statements would have recorded net debt of $8.07 billion instead of $3.85 billion on March 31, 2009, and recorded a surplus of $1.62 billion instead of $2.39 billion for the year ended March 31, 2009."
Report of the Provincial Auditor on the 2009 Government Accounts

3) Thousands and thousands of protected wildlife habitat acres are about to be sold off to Saskatchewan Party's friends, donors and supporters. Without any consultation with those most affected, Wall is bulldozing ahead. Here is what his Environment Minister is saying:

"Bill 132 has been developed in consultation with a wide variety of stakeholders such as the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation, the Nature Conservancy of Canada, Nature Saskatchewan, Ducks Unlimited Canada, The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations" ... (Oh really?(

..compare the government line to what the key stakeholders are saying:

"I find these statements extremely troubling since no such undertakings have occurred. There has been no attempt by your Ministry to enter into a consultation process with First Nations people regarding the expansion of the sale of Crown lands protected under The Wildlife Habitat Protection Act."
Chief Lyle Whitefish
Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations

... or ...

"We can assure you that no meaningful consultation regarding the sale of Crown lands has occurred with Nature Saskatchewan.”
Nature Saskatchewan

When Brad Wall tells you that he is just getting started, Saskatchewan people should be nervous as hell!

And yet the citizens of Saskatchewan are not "very nervous". In fact, they aren't nervous at all.

68.5% of the citizens of Saskatchewan approve of Brad Wall's performance as Premier.

An unfortunate detail, that.

A completely dubious online poll of 800. In terms of 'approval' for Wall .. (30.6% strongly approve and 37.9% somewhat approve. That same 37.9% also somewhat disapprove of Wall. His numbers are starting to fall. The honeymoon is over. If wall loses 8 seats of his 37 in the Legislature, he loses government.

Nice try :)

Nice try, indeed.

The 37.9% you speak of clearly don't approve of Wall as strongly as the 30.6% who "strongly approve" of Wall.

This is clear from the poll, as one-third of that group indicates they would vote for another party.

But if their "somewhat" disapproval of Wall outweighed their approval, they'd have said they "somewhat disapprove".

Face it, dog: the people of Saskatchewan don't seem to share your antipathy to Brad Wall. Life's tough. Get a helmet.

Not so fast ... :) .. the 27.9% somewhat disapprove of Wall or they would be counted with the others who 'approve' of Wall! Bottom line is that a chintzy 800 ONLINE ... mostly Sask Party Caucus hacks who have nothing to do but blog and freep polls voted in this one! The Sask Party is scared shitless of the NDP .. why? Well, they reckoned that after 16 years in office, the New Dems were going to be wiped out to singe digit seat numbers in 2007. Guess what? After 16 years in power the NDP still won 20 seats and the Sask Party won 5 seats by less that 100-200 votes (many even closer). That was not part of the plan.
Don't be so self confident about Wall. He has already screwed up the finances of the province and while 'he' is still popular, his arrogant, incompetent Caucus is not as popular as you would think. Much of his Caucus has been around since 1995 (especially the ones who were turncoat Liberals). I hear that a number of his veteran MLA's are not going to run in 2011 having already been in the House for 4 terms.

Just watch how rattled the Sask Party Caucus is ...

Sheesh. The old "freeping" excuse again.

Do you have any evidence of this, or are you just blowing smoke?

As for your comments regarding the 27.9% who "somewhat disapprove" of Wall being counted among those who approve -- this is not so, for the same reason discussed regarding those who "somewhat approve".

If those people considered their approval to outweigh their disapproval, they would have had themselves recorded as "somewhat approve".

They didn't.

You really need to stop grasping at straws here. It's undignified.

Eery day that passes brings us one day closer to the defeat of the Saskatchewan Party. Period. They were SO sure they would win in 1999 and elect 'premier' Elwin Hermanson. Didn't happen. Then they were totally convinced they would win the 2003 election! Didn't happen. Then they were positive that they would win over 50 seats in 2007 and reduce the NDP to a handful .. didn't happen.

Wall could .. and might be gone in 2011. He is so ARROGANT and has already brought the finacnes of the province into broad public discussion.

... :)

I'd like to say that it's foolish to think that any government could remain in power indefinitely.

I'd like to say this, but the experience of Alberta demonstrates that such a thing could be possible.

Possible... but in the case of Saskatchewan, clearly not likely.

Therefore, you are correct when you say that each day that passes brings us closer to the defeat of the Saskatchewan Party.

The question is: how many days remain?

It's certainly possible that Wall could be beaten in 2011. That might happen.

But right now it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Not in 2011.

I think we'd both agree that will happen some day. Some day the NDP, or maybe even the Liberals or the PCs (if they ever get their act together) will offer a better alternative to the Saskatchewan Party.

Right now, they don't, and the opinions of the people of Saskatchewan reflect that.

You speak for all citizens Ross? I don't think so. I lot of SP voters of the last election, you know, the ones talking that we need change, are pretty upset right now. They are seeing through the false boom and are feeling the pinch of rising costs of everything. They realize they were better off 3 years ago. Wall will be out next election. You can count on it.

Yup!

The poll in question speaks for an awful lot more citizens of Saskatchewan than either your or I do.

When polls are only conducted online, a very narrow segment of the population is able to comment. So no matter what the poll says, it does not reflect the general mood of the public. The mask is coming off, where Wall is concerned. People are finally aware of the fact that he has been a total failure in private business, and that his grinning face on billboards claiming "40% debt reduction and lower taxes for everyone" is an outright lie!

I will take the word of the provincial auditor over that of the Wall gang any day. The honeymoon is definitely over and our 46 year-old, mathematically challenged premier is now finally feeling some heat, thanks to Lingenfelter and company. And it's about time!
