Excuse me??! Would the Editorial Board of the Edmonton Journal please explain how 'every one knows' that Flanagan's murderous proclamation was not serious? If Mr. Flanagan joked about a bomb in his shorts at the Edmonton Airport, should we expect the security guards to merely laugh and slap good old Tom Flanagan on the back for being such a funny joker? NO! He would have been arrested on the spot and charged.

I posted this letter to the editor from the Calgary Herald on my blog:
Re: "Professor won't face discipline for remarks," Dec. 3
An important observation made in the letter is:
"What we are witnessing is the beginnings of Stalinist silencing. No matter how inflammatory Assange's reporting may be, it is still newsworthy and carries the right to be published in any society that market's itself to be, quote unquote, a free entity.
Let us ask ourselves the chilling question of when will people's legitimate political expression and opposition be silenced in the way that some are suggesting Assange be silenced?"
