Conservatives - Liberals - All REJECT Former Supporters Of The Bloc Quebecois Who Wish To Re-Engage With Canada

The New Democratic Party of Canada has achieved what the Liberals and Conservatives never could. They have nearly relegated the Bloc Quebecois to the dustbin of Canadian history.

The results of the last federal election clearly demonstrates that a large number of Quebecois who previously supported the Bloc are rethinking their engagement with Canada. That is the beauty of a democracy - you are free to change your mind.

But Conservatives, Liberals and Greens are all rejecting former supporters of the Bloc. They don't want to have anything to do with them - persona non grata to them. Progressive Canadians and the Quebecois need to pay attention to this revelation.

At the moment, there is only one federalist party that is interested in working with former Bloc supporters as they re-engage with Canada.

-Turmell was courted by Liberals before last election ... than labeled a 'separatist' when she rejected their offers .....

En francais ...

Rumour has it that at least one of Harpers Quebec Cabinet Ministers once belonged to the Bloc Quebecois.

Wow Buck. You're a giggle. Ha.

I can't really know what went on in Turmell's head, was it opportunism to jump ship at this time?, did she have an ephipany and learn to love Canada? or is her story of supporting a friend true?

I don't know and it doesn't matter!

While I applaud her for leaving the bloc the NDP leadership blew this big time, They should have known of her previous status and they should have realized how it would play out in the media, no fault to her.

Turmell made a good decision that we should celebrate that, the NDP simply didn't make the cosmetically savvy choice in rewarding her so quickly. A full term in the party and I don't think it would be such an isssue.

To be honest if a bloc member renounced sovereignty and joined the Greens or even better crossed the floor I'd welcome them like a conquering hero. I wouldn't however expect them to immediately jump the into the leadership even if only interim. In fact I also have a problem with anybody who joins a party just to run for leader, which is why I supported David Chernushenko against E May, to no avail.

The NDP is likely to have a number of sovereignty issues digesting this new cadre of MPs. I'm not gloating, I wish we had such a daunting problem, but you need to find these issues, deal with them and not give the media these gotcha moments.

I can appreciate what you are getting at here. That we should embrace the people jumping over from the Bloc to federalist parties. It is noble and most probably a very smart thing to do for the future development of our country. As a federalist Quebecer I still have an indescribable hatred for any and all separatists who have destroyed my province, sowed seeds of hate within my city, my province and my country and have run off laughing all the way to the bank. They are all vile pieces of garbage who were only out for themselves. Much like the communist era leaders in the U.S.S.R they lived large while the people suffered. Most of them were eventually removed from power and some were even met with firing squads. We are definitely not that extreme and a much more democratic society and the separatists took advantage of this democracy. We hit with words and ideas not bullets, which is the best thing about Canada. As a Quebecer and a proud Canadian, who by the way, has stayed in Quebec for good times and bad, I still need plenty of time to let the wounds heal. I do not blame the voters, they are easily swayed by dreams, I lay full blame on all the rats who sold themselves as caring politicians. Not one of them care about the little people, they are all in it for glory and pats on the back.

I would like to clarify that the link you have associated with the Greens (which most would read as "all Greens", or the "Green Party") is actually a single blogger whose opinion does not reflect the party position.

As a long time member of the Green Party, I can say that we welcome people from all political views. What matters is what people support now.

As for Ms. Turmell, good for her. The reporting in media is simply a fear based assault which has no merit. People change their minds. If they didn't, there would be no point in having elections.

This issue is a tempest in a teapot.

Jim Johnston,
Green Party Candidate,
Lambton-Kent-Middlesex

Thank you Jim ... Steve in Sudbury leaves a great deal to be desired for the Greens in that area. I thank you for your comment.
