Michele Bachmann Says God Sent Earthquake And Hurricane Because He Doesn't Like Gov't Spending
“I don’t know how much God has to do to get the attention of the politicians. We’ve had an earthquake; we’ve had a hurricane. He said, ‘Are you going to start listening to me here?’ Listen to the American people because the American people are roaring right now. They know government is on a morbid obesity diet and we’ve got to rein in the spending.”
Shortly thereafter, her very panicked press secretary tried to explan that she was just joking ... ahhh sure.

This kind of thing is consistent with many of her other statements, obviously not a joke. But what is a sane and rational person in the US to do? There is a whole swath of their (and our) country dominated by people who actively pursue an agenda of know-nothingism and thanks to a certain kind of media that group is growing. And the rightwing, corporate community will do everything they can to promote such an ideology because an ignorant population is often an obedient one.
