"The Senate is a failed institution.” - Tom Mulcair, Leader, New Democratic Party
“We live in a democracy. It’s a fundamental principle in a democracy that laws are made by people who have been elected by the public. The Senate is a failed institution.”
Tom Mulcair
-Leader, New Democratic Party
-Leader of the Official Opposition
Last thought ...
Saskatchewan's Right wing corporate media are a bit anxious about Mulcair's visit to Saskatchewan ... even repeating the original Saskatchewan Party 'speaking point' (which Wall has now abandoned) on what constitutes the term 'Dutch Disease':
" Mulcair is likely less popular in Saskatchewan and so are his policies [...] describing Canada's petro-driven economy as "Dutch disease" that artificially inflates the Canadian dollar and harms manufacturing - particularly in Eastern Canada."

(right wingers .... sheeeeeesh!!)
You might want to break this gently to Tommy but the Senate has no power to enact legislation. He seems to have his wires crossed - again.

... and yet no legislation passed by our elected H of C representatives can be 'enacted' or receive Royal Assent without passage in the unelected, undemocratic 'upper chamber' of the Senate.
A ball of shit .. 'er .. I mean Abolish it!

Meanwhile, the left is completely silent on the evils of the monarchy. Everything you can describe the senate also applies to the monarchy, yet no one is bothered about that in even the slightest!
