Byelection Dates Demonstrate Tory Dirty Politics

It is not cute. It is not funny. It is what it is - Conservatives playing dirty politics!

Stephen Harper dropped writs calling by-elections in Repentigny and London North Centre on November 27th. The choice of that date had one thinly veiled goal and that is to cause as much inconvenience to the Liberal party as possible.

Using the same political ethics that removed 16,000 farmers from the Canadian Wheat Board voters list, the Conservative Party of Canada continues to prove that they believe cheating is an acceptable tactic in Canadian politics. Shame on the Tories. They lack honour. Their style is NOT reflective of the Canadian value of fair play.

The Liberal leadership race is a legitimate democratic exercise that the other political parties should respect and not interfere with.

But I guess we are talking here about 'Conservatives' - the honourable party that is proving to be not quite so honourable on Stephen Harper's watch. Shame!

National Post

The Conservatives aren't going to win in either riding. The only thing they can hope to do is to stall the Liberals enough so that they don't win those seats.

Since the Harper Cons have no hope in Hell of winning either of these seats, he want to make it as uncomfortable and disadvantageous as possible for the Liberals. The thing about it, is that it makes Harper look small and petty, and just adds to his hypicrisy about bringing integrity to politics in Ottawa. It is more damaging to his image than to the Liberals.

You said, "It also doesn't disadvantage the Liberals either from all I can see."
Welllllll..... if the new Lib Leader wanted to get into the House, they could have run in one of the byelections EXCEPT they will be over and no Lib leader can get into the House. Let's face it, the Tories do not want a NEW Liberal Leader in the House before the next election.

So - I disagree with you.
