Bush To Invoke Vietnam In Arguing Against Iraq Pullout
President Bush will speak in Kansas City, Missouri, today to address members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. "Then, as now, people argued that the real problem was America's presence and that if we would just withdraw, the killing would end," according to speech excerpts released Tuesday by the White House."Three decades later, there is a legitimate debate about how we got into the Vietnam War and how we left," Bush will say.
Huh? So the United States should not have pulled out of Vietnam! Oh ... What a bunch of nonsense.
Clearly Bush, his Republicans and the US Military Command still have not embraced the fact, that a regular army in the field, cannot deal with an armed insurgent civilian military force. That is the lesson that SHOULD have been learned from Vietnam. Bush does not get it.
How many will die before he DOES get it??

Indeed. Its farcical to invoke Vietnam as an argument for staying 'the course'.... he said something similar about Japan - I gave that a good rant on my blog. I've added you to my blog roll - hope we can link up.
