Snapshot Of A Prisoner Released From Guantanamo
Adil Hassan Hamad was held in the US's Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba for five years. He was interrogeted, tortured and held in solitary confinement. Without charges ever being laid, or even knowing why he was taken and held, he has now been released and returned to his home in the Sudan.Amnesty International, the UK-based human rights group, has called Guantanamo "a symbol of injustice and abuse" and called on the US government to close the down the prison "in a transparent manner which fully respects the human rights of those detained and brings to fair trial all those who are accused of recognisable crimes".

Hi there,
For a detailed analysis of the dubious circumstances of Adel Hamad's capture in Pakistan, complaints made by a serving US military officer after his kangaroo court tribunal at Guantanamo, and the reason for the two-year delay in his release after he was cleared by a military review board, see the following article on my website: http://www.andyworthington.co.uk/?p=182
