George Bush Travels To Jerusalem This Week - Will Be Briefed On Possible Iran Strike

"ISRAELI security officials are to brief President George W Bush on their latest intelligence about Iran’s nuclear programme - and how it could be destroyed - when he begins a tour of the Middle East in Jerusalem this week. Ehud Barak, the defence minister, is said to want to convince him that an Israeli military strike against uranium enrichment facilities in Iran would be feasible if diplomatic efforts failed to halt nuclear operations. A range of military options has been prepared."
-Times of London

"In one of the largest security operations in years, more than 10,000 Israeli police officers will secure US President George W. Bush's visit to Jerusalem next week, police said Wednesday. The three-day visit, which gets under way on Wednesday, will see a total of 10,450 police officers on the streets of Jerusalem to safeguard the president and his entourage during his stay, Jerusalem police chief Cmdr. Aharon Franco said at a police briefing."
-Jerusalem Post

Clearly, George W. does not see himself as a lame duck president counting down the days until he vacates the Oval Office. You would have to think that he is on a ‘legacy’ mission trying to find a way to put a better public opinion on his presidency. Were it a ‘normal’ individual that we were talking about, you would think that whatever legacy Bush is seeking would be positive and cast him historically as a great world leader. However, since it is George W. Bush that we are talking about here, he may want his legacy to be that of an iron fisted president who beat the crap out of his ‘enemies’. Whatever the outcome, this is going to be a very interesting middle east trip, well worth keeping your eye on.
