Canada's 'Un-Winnable' War Costs Approaching $1 Billion A Year

"This is just the tip of the iceberg. It shows what mission creep is really doing."
Dawn Black, MP
NDP Defence Critic

Costs to Canadians of our failing mission in Afghanistan are now approaching 1 Billion dollars per year. War advocates are pretending that we are getting value for our investment. The cost in both Canadian lives and military spending may 'feel good' to those afflicted with Harper's world view but let's not forget that it was Stephen Harper who said:
"Canada appears content to become a second-tier socialistic country, boasting ever more loudly about its economy and social services to mask its second-rate status,"
Stephen Harper (in his article targeted to Americans, "It is time to seek a new relationship with Canada")
December 12th, 2000.

Harper's hard right wing politics came through loud and clear when he headed up the National Citizens Coalition and later when he sat as a Reform Party Member of Parliament. He sees Canada as a failed experiment, and he LOVES Bush's Republican America. He is attempting to remake Canada into some sort of right wing military partner with the U.S.

-Regina Leader-Post

Now by talking about our commitment to help the Afghans become a stable free democracy Harper is masking our transition to a second class fellow traveller of U.S. imperialism.
Canadians are told to support the troops by ensuring they are put in harms way and that the military-industrial complex gets lots of orders for new equipment.

" ... and that the military - industrial complex gets lots of orders for new equipment."
Well said. These guys just accept the whole situation as 'business'.
