Three Ballot Boxes From Advance Polls Missing In Quebec - Do we need independent observers?
Using this example as advance warning of problems that could occur ... Elections Canada has two days to get their act together and ensure that ALL poll officials know what the hell they are doing for E-Day! If this turns out to be a tight election, there is absolutely NO room for nonsense like this with missing ballot boxes and broken seals!!
We are NOT Zimbabwe ... at least not yet ...
CBC News
The only time I've ever known a ballot box to be taken home is after the counting of ballots and issuance of official results.
In rural areas, DROs take boxes home with all the sealed documents and a courier or driver will come to pick up the box and materials in the day or two. Remember that the results have been phoned in.
Quebec riding is in the city of Quebec and poll hours don't conflict with returning office hours, so boxes should have gone back.

Why is this election so more and more like America's election? All we need are some rednecks going round the 'hoods with shotguns out the window.

Speaking as someone who worked for Elections Canada at the advance polls, scrutineers aren't allowed to touch the ballot boxes, let alone take them home. Is it possible that the reporter has part of this garbled and is confusing a DRO (district returning officer) with a candidates official (scrutineer)?
If this has happened the way in which it has been reported there are seriously big problems here because the ballot boxes are supposed to be delivered to the returning officer each night all signed and sealed. Checked and double checked. Whoever is responsible for such a screw up is facing some serious legal consequences.
