By-Election Results - The Way People Voted
One of my readers emailed me with an interesting series of observations on last nights by-election results from across the country. By-elections were held in one Maritime riding, two Quebec ridings, and one west coast riding.
A quick look at Monday's federal by-election results shows the following:
Total votes cast nationwide, by party:
CPC: 33856 (36%)
NDP: 23180 (25%)
BQ: 19709 (21%)
LPC: 13985 (15%)
GPC: 2896 (3%)
Noteworthy:
1. nearly 10,000 more people (i.e. 9195) voted NDP than voted Liberal
2. the Bloc Quebecois received more votes in two ridings than Liberals did in all four
3. 64% of voters rejected the Harper Conservatives
