Just a word in defense of the US media.
"We" -the US public are very effective at shutting them up. A pretty sizable chunk of America does not want to hear it and will either refuse to hear it or actively push to have anything they deem "unacceptable" banned.
This does seem to be reaching towards a boiling point but it's a coin toss as to which way things will go.
