Canada formally protests new US user fees
PM Stephen Harper has done a lot to show his hero, George Bush, that Conservatives love what the Republicans are doing south of the border. We have courted the Americans, flattered the Americans and when it comes to Afghanistan, we have imitated them.
So it must be frustrating for our Mr. Harper that in spite of all of the butt kissing we are doing, the Americans continue to make life difficult for Canadians every chance they get.
It seems that Ottawa is quietly protesting a series of 'user fees' that the United States wants to impose on airline passengers and commercial travel across our common border.
While Ottawa is going through the motions of protest, I doubt that Bush's little buddy 'Steve' will be able to make much of a change.
So much for Conservative ideology as it relates to dealings with President Bush.
