Harper's Equalization Problems Continue
Prime Minister Stephen Harper spoke at a noon luncheon of the Newfoundland and Labrador Conservative Party on Saturday. Painting a flowery right wing vision of Canada under a new 'brand', he enticed Newfoundland to set aside petty regional complaints and work towards the new Canada.
However, at the evening Banquet, Premier Danny Williams blasted Harper for waffling on the matter of Equalization for Newfoundland and Labrador. He promised that there would be serious electoral consequences for the Prime Minister if campaign promises are not delivered.
Prime Minister Harper is under attack from East and West, by Newfoundland and Saskatchewan for not fulfilling the election promise to remove non-renewable resources from the formula which determines the provincial share of revenue sharing.
