Conservatives Try To Jigger Farmer Vote
The Canadian Wheat Board Act stipulates that any major change to the mandate of the Board MUST be approved by a vote of Farmers. Harper knows that he will not be able to win that vote and obtain the changes he wants.
Meanwhile, farmers are currently preparing to vote on new Board Members for the Canadian Wheat Board. BUT WHAT IS THIS! THE TORIES ARE TRYING TO JIGGER THE VOTERS LIST! It sure looks like they are trying to find a way to manipulate the process to ensure that they get the Board Members that they want!
Shame on Conservatives for playing around with the democratic process in such a blatant and dishonest manner!

I am not really sure what you are referring to re: 'potatoe farmers' - the farmers identified under the Canadian Wheat Board Act as being eligible to vote are those farmers with a wheat Permit Book. What Harper and Strahl are trying to do is decrease the number of Saskatchewan wheat farmers in the vote.
Last year there was a lot of flooding in the northwest part of this province and farmers did not get to take a crop off - also in the south country there was drought and once again a lot of farmers did not get to take off a crop.
These farmers made it thru the year on crop insurance and other off farm work. If Chuck Strahl's criteria is used, NONE OF THESE FARMERS WILL GET TO VOTE and that is WRONG.
Conservatives are trying to cheat on the vote because they cannot win it democratically.
Now as to what you were referring to ......?

No, this can't be true...the CPC stands up for all Canadians, especially the rural western farmer....
where the heck did "potato farmers" come from? Did someone read the article?
