HEY LIBS - Why Doesn't the Membership Pick Leader?
With due respect to my Liberal friends (and those few relations of mine who still insist on remainig Liberal), what is with your leadership selection process?
Considering that both the New Democrats and those dastardly Conservatives have both selected their last leaders by a vote from the general membership, why do you insist on an archaic 'delegate' selection process?
I am always nervous of a delegate process that can so easily be manipulated (as we have seen with the Volpe affair).
In this modern era with a wealth of electronic capabilities, it needs to be explained to me why your delegate system of leadership selection was a good idea.
I am not trying to be confrontational with Liberals, I only want to ask why a more democratic approach was rejected by the grand Poo Bahs of the Liberal party?
Hope this gets through your moderator edit.....
The quota driven delegate selection process has to end. It is confusing, time consuming and elitist. I voted on Saturday but I think they forgot to give me the secret decoder ring that would have helped me make sense of all the SFs, SMs, YFs, YMs, AFs and AMs.
We have voted but we don't know who won. All we know is that some people are qualified to go to the convention at their own expense to negotiate the next leader.
