Proving that there is little difference between them and the Conservative Party of Canada, Liberal Members of Parliament voted for more war in Afghanistan!
Liberal Members of Parliament voted for more war in Afghanistan!
This wasn't a vote for or against war. If Canadians withdrew from Afghanistan the war would continue without us, and we would have betrayed our allies.
The Liberals were the first to join the Americans in the illegal overthrow of the Taliban in Operation Enduring Freedom in a mission called Apollo. In spite of all the high falutin names the original overthrow helping out the warlords of the Northern Alliance the operation was never sanctioned by the UN until after the fact--same as the Iraq war. We are in effect junior partners in U.S. imperialism who managed to arrange their Afghan be funded and cannon fodder provided by NATO members. Our obligation is to remove our troops as soon as possible. Support our troops.
Was it a vote for more war or was it a deferral of a decision that can be overturned when the Liberals get a majority government?
As it stands, the Liberals had to vote this way pending the outcome of four by-elections that may help change the landscape.
When the Liberals get returned to power, the vote will come back and get defeated.
People "park" their votes between elections; MPs "park" their votes pending changes to the balance of power in Ottawa.

On what basis can you even suggest the Liberals are close to achieving a majority government before 2011?
