'Pierre Poilievre - Qualifies For Full Pension At Age 31' - Rick Mercer

Looks like the only job Pierre ever had is the one he has for the moment, as a Conservative Member of Parliament. But quess what? On his 31st birthday, he now qualifies for a FULL Pension!!

"Natives in this country need to learn the value of hard work."
Pierre Poilievre MP
Conservative Party of Canada

Who was it who was so up in arms about MPs' pensions?

Hmmmm, lemme see . . . Preston Manning, wasn't it? And he had a special term for those on the MP pensions? What was that term?

Now it's Poilievre's turn and it would be fun to see Manning hit Pierre P. with the same name calling as he used in the 1990s when he stil had some credibility.

So, if Pierre P. retires now or before the next election he'll cost the taxpayers how many millions? That money could be a type of ransom to keep him from the hill and further destrying the parliamentary process from within.

Criminy, he's mercenary!

Again, I ask, where's the value for money in this exercise?

It seems to me that since about 1995 ex-MPs haven't been eligible to collect pensions until age 55. Other than that, Mercer's commentary was spot-on.

In similar style, I seem to recall reading that Stephen Harper, that crusader against taxes, has never actually held a job in his life that was not paid for with public money.

Which is the case for a lot of us, but most of us don't go around preaching against it and acting like we got where we are today by the grace of God and Ayn Rand...

Is this why we hear so little from Pierre about the plight of the Nortel pensioners?

""""""""In similar style, I seem to recall reading that Stephen Harper, that crusader against taxes, has never actually held a job in his life that was not paid for with public money.""""""""""

Can anybody verify this for me? I want to write a letter to the editor.
