Stephane Dion - Hands Off Senator Romeo Dallaire!
Canadian Press
Every day in the House of Commons, the weak kneed character who currently leads the Liberal Party of Canada abrogates his responsibility as Leader of the Official Opposition and allows Stephen Harper and Jason Kenney types to run rough shod over the nation!
And yet, when someone in Liberal ranks finally says something that is sane, just and righteous, Dion threatens to discipline them!
Well Stephan Dion, if you want to truly drive your once great party completely into the dumper, go ahead and rap Senator Dallaire's knuckles .... and see what happens!!
I have no idea exactly what Dallaire said that is so troubling to the Liberals.
I've just re-read them, and agree with them wholeheartedly.

Dion simply did a knee jerk panic reaction! No thought - no logic ... this is what is typically called 'reactionary' in political terms.

Bravo Buckdog and bravo Dallaire. Canada needs leaders like Dallaire, someone who shows honour, something lacking in Ottawa right now.

Dion is continuously embarrassing himself, and is too silly to realize it!

I watched the exchange between Senator Dallaire and Sec. of State Jason Kenny regarding the "morality" of Canada's position on Omar Khadr's situation. The Senator presented a coherent argument based on his hugely relevant experience and correct understanding of International and Canadian law. Jason Kenny then interposed with his bizarre list of terrorist crimes and challenged Dallaire, in the shittiest lawyerly fashion, to say this was the "moral equivalent" of his own Government's abandonment of law and principle in the Khadr affair. Dallaire did not balk. He stated that in terms of right and wrong, quibbling over degree is false and dangerous.
In my view the Canadian Press report, in shittiest journalistic fashion, distorted the story to make it seem as if Dallaire had made these odious comparisons of evil, and was thereby guilty of attacking canada. He did not. He dismissed the concept of moral relativism in favour of the more absolute principle of rule of law.
Note that Kenny's rhetorical strategy was to import sensational irrelevacies in order distract careless listeners and to provoke polarized thinking. Shame on the Canadian Press for masticating this rotten bait. Shame on the Government Party for their persistent ignorance, tyrant sensibilities and ugly-mindedness. Shame on Stephane Dion if he speaks one word more against a Liberal Senator who gives service to Canadians at such a level that mere politicians ought to bow when he enters the room.

"Note that Kenny's rhetorical strategy was to import sensational irrelevacies in order distract careless listeners and to provoke polarized thinking."
Absolutely! The Conservative communications machine has mastered this strategy ... Facts are completely irrelevant in their arguments.
