Don't Let The Door Hit You In The Ass On Your Way Out!

Here Are The Official 'Talking Points' Sent Out Nationwide To Conservatives By The PMO

(click on the above graphic to fully display and read it)

Harper is desperately trying to undo the mess he has made of things in Ottawa. So, he is mobilizing his Tory forces to come out swinging!

Conservatives: 'Drinking The Blue Kool-Aid'

As you can imagine, the Right-wing-o-sphere' is off the deep end over the current situation in Ottawa. Nearly EVERY Blogging Tory seems to be in either panic mode or outrage mode.

Here is a small sampling of the 'reactionary' Canadian Right this morning:

-Smalldeadanimals: (name that coalition)

-crux-of-the-matter.com: (Liberal, NDP, Bloc coalition a “Coup d’Etat”)

-I Am Joe

-Christian Conservative: (A disgusting thought)

-Clear Conservative Thought: (Political reform to save Democracy)

-Ezra Levant plays his usual word games when he says .... BUT, Kady O'Malley calls him out on it when she writes: "Also, having now seen this particular talking point trotted out approximately nineteen thousand times in the last 24 hours - including a record-breaking effort by Ezra Levant on CTV News last night, where he managed to work it into every single response, sometimes more than once in the same sentence - I have to ask: Is there any reason at all to think that either Jack Layton or Bob Rae would get the Finance gig in a coalition government — or, frankly, that either of them would even want it?"

-And Tory Members of Parliament are fanning out across the nation this weekend testing out their new 'talking points' from the PMO.

New Democrats Challenge Premier Wall To PROVE That Cozy Relationship With Harper Financially Benefits The Province

The Federal Conservatives' broken campaign promise to pull non-renewable resource revenues out of the province's transfer formula, would have meant an estimated additional $800-million annually in federal funding for the province of Saskatchewan.

All that Saskatchewan has to show for this broken promise is a bridge funded by the Feds to the tune of $86 Million. Basic math proves that $86 Million does not add up to $800 Million!

Yet to hear right wing Premier Brad Wall tell it, Saskatchewan is benefiting financially from his cozy 'lap dog' relationship with the Harper Conservatives.

So ... the time has come for Wall's Sask Party to demonstrate on paper, how Harper's broken promise on natural resources has benefited the province. The NDP Opposition has asked Wall to prove his ongoing claims that Saskatchewan is receiving "as much or better" from the Feds.

Canadians More Hopeful Of Obama Progress Than Americans

It is no secret to most Canadians, that George Bush has been one of the worst Presidents in the recent history of the United States. To say that he is not liked by Canadians would be an understatement.

In a poll conducted by Angus Reid and published on his online Global Monitor, the following response clearly shows that Canadians have embraced the election of Barack Obama:

To what extent do you think the recent election of Barack Obama will help or hurt the overall direction of America over the next four years?

Help a lot / Help a little: CAN 84% USA 55%

Hurt a lot / Hurt a little: CAN 8% USA 33%

Not sure: CAN 8% USA 12%

Evangelical Christians Required Police Protection After Conducting Anti-Gay Prayer Service In Castro District - San Francisco

Earlier this week, a group of Evangelical Christians who gathered in San Francisco's gay Castro district required police protection after they began to pray and implore gay persons to repent their ways and convert to christianity.

Local gay restaurants and bars emptied out and the evangelicals required police protection to escort them safely out of the district.

Chrysler Canada Wants $1 Billion Corporate Welfare Payment From Taxpayers

The first of the three big auto makers has spelled out how much welfare it wants from taxpayers to bail out it's massively overpaid executives who continue to manufacture gas guzzling cars that consumers are no longer actively interested in purchasing.

TORONTO and OTTAWA — Chrysler Canada Inc. has asked Ottawa and Ontario for $1-billion in financial assistance to help it survive through the auto crisis – the only one of the Canadian units of the Detroit Three that so far has specified how much it is seeking.

The auto maker has not said what form of assistance it wants or how the amount would break down between the two governments, sources familiar with the discussions said yesterday.

Auto Industry Executives Flew To Washington By Private Jet To Get Their Billion$ Of Corporate Welfare From The Taxpayers!!

Multi-million dollar earning executives of the auto industry flew by private jet yesterday to pick up their Corporate Welfare cheques paid for by average taxpayers!!

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Memo to U.S. companies seeking a bailout: When visiting Congress to ask for money, leave the private jets at home.

Chief executives from General Motors Corp, Ford Motor Co, and Chrysler LLC pleaded on Wednesday for $25 billion in federal assistance to help pay their suppliers, workers and other expenses at a time when car sales have plunged along with a souring economy.

But skeptical lawmakers blasted them for flying private jets to Washington and failing to make personal sacrifices in exchange for federal assistance. [...]

California Democrat Rep. Brad Sherman, asked the CEOs if they were willing to sell their jets on Wednesday and fly back to Detroit on a commercial flight. "Let the record show no hands went up," Sherman said.

Proof That Saskatchewan's Extreme Right Wing Labour Legislation Is A Joke!

Earlier this year, the new Saskatchewan Party government passed and enacted changes to the province's existing labour laws that can only be described as a breach of Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms .

Under Saskatchewan's new 'Essential Services' legislation, health librarians and music therapists have now been included as essential services who have lost the right to strike. These job classifications join almost EVERY other health related job description covered by the legislation as a service essential to the government where the right to strike is no longer an option.

The Saskatchewan Federation of Labour is currently challenging Saskatchewan's extreme labour laws in the courts.

-Regina Leader-Post

So ... do you want more proof that the Saskatchewan Party government has an extreme labour agenda? Well, Brad Wall's government is also proceeding with legislation to lower the minimum age that children can be employed at! Ahhh ... child labour! CBC Reporter Did NOT Give Regina Mayor 'The Finger'

Regina Mayor Accuses CBC Reporter Of Giving Him The Finger

One of my very favourite CBC Radio reporters in Saskatchewan is John Weidlich. John has a direct style of questioning that drives politicians crazy. As a journalist, I think he is a good one. However, Regina Mayor Pat Fiacco may disagree with me after an exchange that occurred between the two.

At a news scrum on Monday to announce the results of the City of Regina regular omnibus survey, CBC's John Weidlich asked the Mayor why the survey didn't include a question concerning what citizens thought of the city committing $100 million in infrastructure for the new Intermodal Facility.

At one point, Mayor Fiacco accuses Weidlick of giving him the finger! Here is some of their heated exchange:

Weidlich: "So when it comes to spending $100 million or committing the city to spending $100 million, why don't you think that's a worthwhile question to ask citizens?"

Fiacco: "We might ask that question in the next survey, John."

Weidlich: "Haven't you already committed the city to spending that money?"

Fiacco: "We'll ask the question if we should continue."

Weidlich: "Why would you ask the question after the ..."

Fiacco: "John, I think the decision has been made to go forward. Any other questions that are ...?"

Weidlich: "Just back up one, sir."

Fiacco: "Actually, John, I'll position this one more time. You and I have talked about the way to ask a question. We can talk about this. It's not in the survey right now. If we want to put it in the survey, we can do that later on for next year's survey."

Weidlich: "Can I ask another question, sir?"

Fiacco: "No, you can't"

Weidlich: "Why not?"

Fiacco: "Anything else? Because of what you just did."

Weidlich: "I can ask a question."

Fiacco: "For the record, John, you just gave me the finger."

Weidlich: "Excuse me, sir?"

Fiacco: "Yes, you did, so I'll ask you, you'll not be allowed to ask any more questions. Thank you."

Weidlich: "Forgive me, sir, but you are falsely accusing me of an action which is not appropriate."

Fiacco: "I don't think I've ever done that. You just did that. Thank you. Next question."

Weidlich: "Excuse me, sir ..."

Fiacco: "Next question. From someone else."

Weidlich: "You are controlling the podium, sir, but for the record ..."

Fiacco: "No, you did. Thank you, John. As a matter of fact I'd ask you to leave but I won't do that."

Weidlich: "Well, you control the podium, sir."

Fiacco: "Next question and not from John Weidlich."

Regina Leader-Post

I do NOT believe that Weidlich gave the Mayor of Regina the 'finger' while interviewing him! He is far too professional and far too experienced to do anything like that!

Stay tuned .......

Media Melon has more .... as well as a bit more.

'Democratic Reform' Nonsense From Stephen Harper And Premier Wall

"The Saskatchewan government has introduced legislation that would let people select who they want to represent them in the Senate."
CBC Saskatchewan

"The Conservative government is applauding Saskatchewan's new Senate election legislation but can't guarantee Prime Minister Stephen Harper won't appoint a new senator from the province before the Senate vote is ever held, according to the federal minister of state for democratic reform."
Regina Leader-Post

Saskatchewan's new right wing Premier is already laying the groundwork to murky the waters for the next provincial election. When Saskatchewan residents go to the polls to pick a new government in 2011, they will likely also be handed other ballots to select a new Senator and to vote on whether or not Saskatchewan should observe daylight savings time.

Both Stephen Harper and the Saskatchewan Party have old, deep roots in Preston Manning's defunct Reform Party. Both have sizable 'Reform' blocs in their respective party and must find ways to appease them.

Out of the hat comes the old right wing 'rabbit' of .... democratic reform! Except that for poor old Brad Wall, his timing is off and Harper has his own problems!!

Harper's commitment to democratic reform isn't as much a priority as is his need to fill the Senate up with fat, lazy, cranky, smelly old Tories who will move his Bills through in quick fashion!

Wall's timing couldn't be worse. Harper's tactics couldn't be more transparent.

NOT EVEN ONE MORE CANADIAN DEATH IN AFGHANISTAN!!!

Karzai Offers To Protect Taliban Leader
KABUL, Afghanistan — Afghan President Hamid Karzai pledged Sunday to provide security for the Taliban's reclusive leader Mullah Omar if he agrees to enter peace talks, and suggested that the United States and other Western countries could leave the country or oust him if they disagree. [...] “If I am removed in the cause of peace for Afghanistan by force by them, then I will be very happy,” Mr. Karzai said. “If they disagree, they can leave. But we are not in that stage yet.” Mullah Omar headed the government toppled by the U.S.-led invasion in 2001. Since then, he has been in hiding but is believed to be running the insurgency."
Globe & Mail

Ever since the former Liberal government got us tangled up in George Bush's mess in Afghanistan AND on the heels of Harper's ongoing total dishonesty in continuing Canada's military mission, it has been obvious to New Democrats that this is a war that cannot be won!

Canadians have endured the war mongering propaganda of former Canadian General Rick Hillier and the continuing dishonesty of our new top general, Walter Natynczyk.

Canada's New Democrats have been the only political party that has been spot on about the perils of the Afghanistan mission. We have pointed out that the once mighty Soviet Army was defeated in an earlier Afghan insurgency - why would we fare any better with a fraction of the troops that the Soviets employed? And yet, Canada's media have been just as vitriolic as the Tories and Libs in their attacks on Layton and the New Democrats or anyone else who has suggested that we attempt dialogue.

If one more Canadian is killed in Afghanistan .... Harper's Conservatives and those right leaning Liberals who defended our involvement in Afghanistan, will have their blood on their hands!

Enough is enough. Canada should get out of Afghanistan .... NOW!

Saskatchewan Party Policy On Elected Senators Betrays Their Old Reform Party Roots

The Saskatchewan Party has deep roots in the old Reform Party. The very first Sask Party leader, Elwin Hermanson, was a former Reform Party Member of Parliament. After his disappointing loss of the 2003 Saskatchewan provincial election, the Sask Party dumped him and adopted a number of initiatives to soften and camouflage their hard Right Reform Party policy foundation.

At this weeks annual convention of the Party, delegates could not resist advancing a long standing policy of Preston Manning's old Reformers .... the election of Senators!

It should not come as a surprise to Saskatchewan watchers. The Sask Party is all about remaking Saskatchewan in Alberta's image. So ... here we go. Premier Brad Wall has already hinted that Saskatchewan voters may be asked to voice their opinion on adopting 'daylight savings time' by ballot at the next provincial election. If they add another ballot for election of one or more Saskatchewan Senators, it is going to be an interesting election.

Saskatchewan's New Democrats hold to the policy of their party nationally, .... Abolish The Senate! There may be far more support for that position than the Saskatchewan Party government is aware of.

Canada's Future Should NOT Include A 'King Charles'!!

"But those who believe that Britain needs an ‘active’ sovereign for the 21st century claim that it would be a waste of his experience and accumulated wisdom for it to be straitjacketed within the confines of an annual Christmas message or his weekly audience with the prime minister."
Jonathan Dimbleby
Prince Charles's biographer

When the day comes that Queen Elizabeth II is no longer the monarch of England and the British Empire, Canada should rid itself of its archaic attachment to the British Crown!

Thre is NO logical reason to continue with the British monarch as our Head of State. No arguments brought forward from any monarchist can convince rational Canadians that we should continue with this tradition.

I don't want to have King Charles III as the Head of State for Canada. In fact, I don't want a King William or a King Harry or ANY of them!!

There are a number of options that we could pursue. We could elect our Governor General who would continue to function as currently exists. The 'head of state' position would remain largely ceremonial with the Prime Minister retaining the status quo as de facto 'leader' of the nation. Fancy dinners, presenting of awards, entertaining other heads of state could fall to the elected and ceremonial Governor General of Canada.

Canada needs no further connection to the British monarchy. It is insulting that the situation remains as it is.

Saskatchewan Party Convention Anything But 'Humble'

"We urge you to register early, and plan to be entertained and informed, and share in the glory of the Saskatchewan Party in power,"
(Invitation To Sask Party Convention Delegates)

Humble
/ˈhʌmbəl, ˈʌm-/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [huhm-buhl, uhm-] Show IPA Pronunciation
adjective, -bler, -blest, verb, -bled, -bling.
–adjective

1. not proud or arrogant; modest: to be humble although successful.
2. having a feeling of insignificance, inferiority, subservience, etc.: In the presence of so many world-famous writers I felt very humble.
3. low in rank, importance, status, quality, etc.; lowly: of humble origin; a humble home.
4. courteously respectful: In my humble opinion you are wrong

Saskatchewan's right wing governing party is meeting this weekend in their first convention since winning office one year ago.

There is nothing humble, modest or frugal with these folks! 'To the Victors ... go the spoils' could easily be the motto of this Saskatchewan Party convention.

Political columnist, Murray Mandryk reminds them that along with the 'power and glory' of winning office goes the duty of responsible stewardship.

"It was an intriguing choice of words for a simple convention invitation. The "power"? Share in the "glory"? Toss in a "forever and ever, amen" and you pretty much have the end of The Lord's Prayer. (Interestingly, pundits in the U.S. describe such words as "dog whistles". The term was used to describe phrases salted into George W. Bush speeches that were of little consequence to most people, but often were obscure Biblical references designed to be heard only by the Christian right -- like a silent political "dog whistle.")

Ahh ... Pity The Poor Banks .... (Flaherty Is Driven By Right Wing Ideology)

Federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty is making $50 Billion tax dollars available to the Canadian banking system by buying out residential mortgages.

Right wing ideology says that with an extra $50 Billion in their pockets, the Banks will gladly start lending money to consumers! The fly in the ointment is that the the Harper government has not made this general mortgage buyout contingent on the banks doing just that .... LENDING out money!

We have already seen resistance from the American banking system who are hoarding the hundreds of billions of tax dollars coming their way from the Bush administration.

So ... exactly what tells Jim Flaherty that Canadian banks will not do the same?

We are witnessing one of the worst thefts of tax dollars in recorded history. We are witnessing an outright pillage of the public purse ... the money going to the hands of Wall Street, Bay Street and the banking industry.

Friends .. we are being taken to the cleaners - our pockets are being picked - we are going to hell in a handbag.

There WILL Be Peace!

There will be peace:

when attitudes change;
when self-interest is seen as part of common interest;
when old wrongs, old scores, old mistakes
are deleted from the account;
when the aim becomes co-operation and mutual benefit
rather than revenge or seizing maximum personal or group gain;
when justice and equality before the law
become the basis of government;
when basic freedoms exist;
when leaders - political, religious, educational - and the police and media
wholeheartedly embrace the concepts of justice, equality, freedom, tolerance, and reconciliation as a basis for renewal;
when parents teach their children new ways to think about people.

There will be peace:
when enemies become fellow human beings.

McCain Aide - Martin Eisenstadt - Comes Forward Concerning Palin Criticisms!

This story has more twists!
A supposed 'aide' to John McCain who uses the name 'Martin Eisenstadt', claims that he is the one who leaked criticisms of Sarah Palin.

"So yes, to be clear, last week I was the one who leaked those things to a producer at Fox News who works with Cameron. Carl and his producers are good guys, and I don’t want them to have to worry about protecting their sources (and going through the wringer ala Judith Miller or Matt Cooper) on something like this. [...]
... it was clear that she simply didn’t have the ease of knowledge that we come to expect from a major party political candidate. Other slights came up, too: Not knowing the difference between Hezbollah and Hamas. Or the difference between the Shiites and Suni. Or when it came to international terrorist organizations, knowing that the IRA was in Northern Ireland, and ETA in Spain."

Darkness Falls On British Economy

"Every cloud may have a silver lining, but the market’s verdict on last week’s shock decision by the Bank of England to cut interest rates to their lowest level since 1955, was that the cloud of recession descending on Britain will be much darker and longer-lasting than the government would have us believe.

The FTSE 100 plunged by 5.7 per cent following the announcement of the 1.5 per cent cut, as investors decided that the bank’s actions meant 2009 has set to be very grim indeed. There were also fears that the stricken banking system would fail to pass on the savings to individual lenders and small businesses."

Harper's Conservatives Preparing To Dole Out Even MORE Billion$ To Canadian Banks!!

"The federal government is planning to provide more help to Canadian banks because they continue to cope with unfavourable credit conditions, Prime Minister Stephen Harper said yesterday. [...] Speculation of further government action has been mounting in recent days. Finance Minister Jim Flaherty has hinted Ottawa could double the size of its mortgage purchase program, while providing other assistance to banks and private pension funds. The federal government has already agreed to buy as much as $25 billion in residential mortgages from Canadian banks so they can keep lending to consumers. So far, it has purchased about $12 billion of those loans. Ottawa also agreed last month to provide guarantees on more than $200 billion of bank debt."
The Star

Pity the poor banks. Sigh. With interest rates so low, how can they possibly gouge Canadians sufficiently to scrape together billions of quarterly profits??

Well .... Stephen Harper to the rescue ... with your tax dollars!!

Harper is taking the same direction as the Republican administration in Washington. The Bush government has given $250 BILLION to American banks to stimulate the US economy. HOWEVER the banks are NOT lending out any of that money because .. well ... they were not required to give guarantees that they would! American banks are hoarding the tax money they have been given or are buying out other smaller banks!

Canadian banks are losing money from their American branches ... ("Bank of Montreal's midwestern U.S. branch network reported loan losses of $131-million in the quarter, compared with $129-million in the previous quarter, and $13-million a year ago.) According to Harper, Canadian tax dollars will simply have to be used to help out the 'poor' Canadian banking system!

The Canadian people were stupid enough to give Harper sufficient power to ensure that corporate welfare remains alive and well in Canada.

Republican Sarah Palin Did Not Know That Africa Was A Continent - McCain Aides Now Telling All About The Idiot Who Ran For Vice President!

"Sarah Palin did not know Africa was a continent and could not name what countries made up North America, reports have claimed.

Just hours after Republican presidential candidate John McCain lost the election race to Barack Obama, a number of stories have emerged about tension in the camp.

Mr McCain's aides have claimed that his running mate Ms Palin was a liability and had major gaps in her political knowledge."

Metro UK News

"She does believe the world is only 4,000 years old. She did shoot moose from a helicopter."
-5 Reasons Why Palin Was A Liability: Dallas News

"... soon after she was chosen McCain's running mate with very little vetting, his campaign insiders say they became queasy with the growing knowledge that Palin was desperately unqualified and ill-prepared to be a heartbeat away from the presidency. They attempted to bring her up to speed on the issues of the day, but she refused any efforts to prepare her for a string of disastrous interviews with CBS's Katie Couric that proved extremely damaging to the McCain campaign. The McCain insiders have told various news organizations that Palin nonetheless threw angry temper tantrums over their mishandling of her when the Couric interviews went badly."
-McCain aides tell tales of an ill-informed diva: Canadian Press

"Despite her self-styled image as a down-home working mother opposed to big government spending, the aides told Newsweek she behaved like anything but: she spent tens of thousands of dollars more than the US$150,000 originally reported on clothing, accessories and luggage for herself and her family.

One senior aide told the magazine that she was told to buy three suits for the Republican National Convention and hire a stylist, but instead, the vice-presidential nominee began amassing costly goods from stores like Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. At one point during the campaign, Palin's youngest daughter, seven-year-old Piper, was photographed carrying a US$790 Louis Vuitton bag.

Two sources told Newsweek the goods were bought by a wealthy donor, who was flabbergasted when he saw the bills. Palin also allegedly instructed low-level staffers to buy her new clothes with their credit cards, something the McCain campaign only discovered last week when the aides tried to get reimbursed. Palin aides had a different version of events, with several telling the Los Angeles Times that she was outraged by the amount of money being spent on her clothing, adding she was naive about what the clothes cost."

[...]

"The tensions between the two camps reportedly continued even into election night, when Palin met up with McCain at the Biltmore hotel in Phoenix with a concession speech in hand that she wanted to deliver before he took to the podium to address his crestfallen supporters. Much to her chagrin, she was told by senior McCain aides that such a speech would be inappropriate since vice-presidential nominees do not traditionally speak on election night."
-CTV News

"Indeed, the only good thing about McCain is that he gave us a genuine conservative, Sarah Palin. He's like one of those insects that lives just long enough to reproduce so that the species can survive. That's why a lot of us are referring to Sarah as "The One" these days."

The President of the United States of America

President Barack Obama

Harper Has A MINORITY Government - He Can't Have A Majority On Parliamentary Committees!

"One way or the other, the government is a minority government, and they have to stay as a minority in the committees. I don't see how they can have a majority at committees if they are a minority government."
Yvon Godin, MP
NDP Whip
The Globe & Mail

So .. what say the Liberals? Will they prove (once again) the old New Democrat saying, .... "Liberal / Tory ... same old story"?

The Republican DEFEAT Tonight Will Be MASSIVE!

Throughout it's history, the United States of America has seen a few very lopsided wins in the election of the Office of President.

During the 1964 race, Lyndon Johnson won 61.1% of the popular vote, and that result remains the largest popular-vote percentage won by a U.S.presidential candidate since 1820.

Barack Obama will not win by that large a margin, but his victory will be decisive and the defeat of the Republican Party will leave them hurt, miserable and nasty.

The last 28 years have seen 20 years of Republican rule under Reagan, Bush Sr., and Bush Jr. It is time to take the levers of power away from these right wing, fundamentalist, free-market incompetents and allow a more moderate and progressive direction to be charted for that nation.

The massive turnout of voters in the advance poll indicates to me that a major house cleaning is going to occur this election. Millions of new voters are registered and motivated to do their civic duty by voting.

The Republican scourge is about to have powered ripped out of its hands in the Senate, the House of Representatives and the Oval Office.

And just to add a bit of salt to the wounds that are about to be inflicted on the fundamentalist Right in the USA ... allow me, a true NON-BELIEVER to throw a little of your own biblical nonsense back in your face for a change:

"So shall it be at the end of the age (of Republicans): the messengers shall come forth and sever the wicked (Republicans) from among the just (everyone else), and shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth."
--Matt. 13:49,50.

"I think the Zamboni driver is drunk." - Another Canadiana Moment!

"At 9:40 p.m. Thursday, an off-duty Kingsville Ontario Provincial Police sergeant who happened to be at the arena was approached by a number of citizens telling him "I think the Zamboni driver is drunk."

"His son was playing hockey and when he gets in there, people start approaching him," said Const. Janet Hayes. "He looks over and sees the ice surface is a mess."
The sergeant observed the 34-year-old driver operating the machine in an erratic manner and missing large portions of the ice surface.

On more than one occasion the Zamboni struck the boards and at one point, the machine was stopped and the woman was seen slumped over the steering wheel."
